Have any of you had chance to have a play with Apple's Aperture software yet?

www.apple.com/uk/aperture/

A friend of mine has ordered a copy which is due for delivery any time now. I was wondering what to expect...

Andy.

If you were to go down that route you may as well download it for free via bit-torrent

I'd hoped somebody would have had a play and would be able to give a mini-review.

Beware, note the minimum system requirements first!

I was very tempted but it really needs a good dual G5 to make it fly.

I have Aperture running on my Dual 1.25 G4 at home It seems fairly comprehensive and certainly much better (and quicker!) than iPhoto. Why Apple deem to lock out us PowerMac G4 users when they allow less powerful Powerbook G4's to run it is beyond me... however the crack is easily obtainable.

I've not used it enough to give further comment or decide if I'm going to switch from iPhoto yet.

Will it still only work on OSX Tiger or will it work on my 10.3.9 512MB Powerbook G4 with the hack?

Apple:

"Does your system and graphics card meet the minimum requirements for Aperture? Downland and run our Compatibility Checker and find out: www.apple.com/euro/aperture/binary/Aperture_Checker.dmg ".

Hmmm, maybe time to upgrade my G3 400 then.

Worked just about OK on my 1.4 G4 Mac Mini (had to run the version for lower specced machines - and I have 1Gb RAM), wasn't amazed enough with it to replace capture one on the MAc or RawShooter on the PC in terms of my workflow. Seems you need a really beefy machine to make it work.
