Hi everyone,

I am thinking of a good simple short name for a company dealing with rental of sports vehicles (like Elise, Boxster, Ferrari) that I am about to open soon.
"RentASportscar" seems a bit to long, was thinking of maybe RoadsterHire or something along these lines. Or perhaps use of word "drive" or "spin"...

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Chris

Had a customer launch a similar venture last year and he soon discovered that the budgeted start up costs soon escalated!

Aside from the obvious capital cost of the fleet and eye-watering insurance premiums with minimum age restriction that severely limited his market... his advertising spend spiralled in an effort to move the venture forward!

Just ensure your projections are realistic.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, apprentice I realise the costs, and I know about the insurance which is ridiculously expensive but thats because of the market is limited and silly insurance law (specific categories of insurance), plus I am a small player at the moment... I am just wondering how that other company did in the end and which company it is, if you could tell me ?

Anyway, any ideas for a name ?

Regards,

Chris

As has been said a lot of people trying to get these things going (and finding the costs to sales do not always add up), do you have a USP in the marketplace that will stand you out from the others, if so you may want to work this into your name if at all possible.

Generally however I would avoid the word "Rent" as seems to me more like a Avis and Hertz thing and therefore maybe not conjure up the exotic end of the market. One off the top of my head would be somthing like Dream Drives. Obviously you are going to need to check with Companies House that any name you go with has not already been taken and also make sure that you can get the corresponding web address as you will more than likely want them to match.

Just spotted this on my travels today www.footballers-drives.co.uk

Quite an original name and something I would not have thought of. Thinking of the suitable name is difficult in your chosen business as there seem to be quite a few already who have got the predictable names.

Good luck in your quest.

Phil

Thank you all for suggestions & advice.
I have actually recently been thinking of something simple such as Roadster Hire or Hire a Roadster, otherwise had some more original suggestions from www.wordlab.com forum, such as Sporty Devils. Should definitely be easy to remember...

As for the Unique Selling Point, It should be very competetively priced, with daily rentals starting from below £100 + pay as you drive per mile, or still £100something with 100 miles included and just GOOD weekend rates. These I mean for cars like a Boxster, Elise and 996.

Insurance - is a short term cover in a driver's name. Obviously the prices quoted include a relevant insurance premium.

Have you arranged cover in case the hirer steals the car?

I ask because this was a stumbling block for me - albeit on a higher risk car.

Would you have to refuse custom if a punter had a "bad" licence? (Dr10 etc)

Obviously a seriously "bad" license or drink driving convitctions would not be accepted. I shall place all the conditons on the web pages shortly. But normally a speeding ticket would still be ok.

Thanks guys for your input,.

Not sure though why it's 2nd time someone mentioned Footballer's Drive (as there are other companies offering more similar cars to mine).

Terms & Conditons now available on the pages, I'm about to upload actual photos of the boxster (black metallic) very soon

Not many enquires at the moment...
Still sorting diversion from the 0800 to my mobile...

Lend the car to a reporter of the main local paper for free one weekend on the guarantee that they write a small aricle about this 'exciting new sports car hire company'.

Also do a half-page ad on the same page as teh article showing an eye-catching introductory offer (maybe something like a birthday special - hire the car for a friends birthday at full rate and get a voucher for yourself for a 1/2 price day later on???).

Should stir up some interest.
