Unfortunately, this will be used to show how speed cameras catch criminals.....

From todays Telegraph;

Joyriders smile for the camera

Police could hardly believe their good fortune when they discovered three joyriders had posed for a speed camera as they drove around a housing estate in a stolen car.

Detectives has few clues after the stolen Ford Escort was found burnt out with no sign of the occupants, until they were shon a series of clear photographs in which the driver and the rear seat passenger could be seen grinning at the camera.

A third joyrider was pictured leaning out of the passenger window. A fourth youth sitting in the back seat did not look at the camera.

The car had been taken two hours earlier, at 11pm, from a private drive in Bournemouth.

Police officers said the images were so sharp they were hopeful the public would come forward with identities for the gang. The pictures even show the speedometer registering 40mph in a 30mph zone.

PC Robin Ellis, of Bournemouth Police, said: "To have all three of them turn to the camear at the same time is incredible and hopefully very lucky for us."

A 16 year old has been arrested and released on police bail.

Yes, well worth the investment then.

Of course a traffic cop would have not only been able to see there faces, but might have actually apprehended them before they torched the car.

Reminds me of a burglar I once nicked whose accomplice took a picture of him in the householders home with her camera and then forgot to take the camera with him!

Two weeks later she gets her pictures developed and lo and behold, there's a picture of matey boy in front of her telly!

That would have made for an interesting identity parade ... "OK Lads, belts off, trousers down - right down, you on the left, 'round the ankles please" - and all bend over now!"

(Actually, sounds a bit too much like Greedy Gordo's tax plans, doesn't it?)
