I am thinking of buying a brand new tuscan 2 s convertable as i have fallen in love with a moonracker black, tan hide Mk2, i already own a mk1 s 2002 which is fantastic my questions are.

1.has anybody already changed from a mk1 s to a mk2 con s and if so what are the main changes.
2.am i bloody mad to change as i already own a great car
3.is the three year warranty as good as they say.
4.this we be my 5th tvr in 5 years am i ever going to be satisfied.

I owned a Mk1 Red Rose for 4 years and the early Mk2s were a revelation in a number of areas - especially ride/handling and build quality. A big step forward. I've also driven the latest standard and 'S' suspensions on Mk2s and, frankly, it's fantastic. Build quality is definitely better too although some of the later Mk1s were considerably better than the earlier examples. Depending on what year your car is depends on how big a leap a Mk2 will feel in terms of quality. The Vert dash maybe lacks the drama of the Mk1 "Nemo" dash but it's a lot more practical. I believe Leven can already supply aluminium stalks to cover up the plastic things that the Vert has.

I'd recommend. In fact, I'm tempted by an 'S' Vert myself.

Editted to answer all the questions:
- not mad IMHO
- 36K/36 months is what it says on the tin
- don't be TOO satisfied ....TVR needs regular customers!

I offer £15 for your old one Tovey.

With a working clutch.

At this time of year I do realise that is over the odds but hey I'm a great guy.

baz, thanks for the advice, but i have had a better offer from a nt london main dealer. If you dont mind me asking what is a VERT dash, and do you know if the new mk2 s is as quick as the (mk1) s. Thanks gordon.

that is such a shame, all the tvrs i have owned have been fantastic, mind you i have never had a brand new one. Maybe you are better of with a used one, but i have always wanted my very own brand new one.

Your not missing much, everybody calls them and their right in what they say.My Tuscan is 10 months old and has been with the dealership for at least 2 months on and off, this is not acceptable in my books.
Good luck if you buy one you will need it

If you want one go for it. I had a 2002 which was a great car.
Its not a BMW so dont expect german build quality. But it is a massive improvment over the last one in term of build quality and handling. We also own an elise the handling on the old one was crap in comparison but i think this new one comes close especialy in the wet.Only time will tell if the warranty is all its cracked up to be but i think that depends on your relationship with your dealer. The Mk1 is a great car but i think the Mk2 Convert is streets ahead.
Some people are never happpy just respect your car and i dont think you will have many problems.
You will probably be very happy until TVR bring out a faster shiner new model till then enjoy

Absolute bollox.

I've had 2 from new and no major probs whatsoever. I know a number of others whose experience is the same. Either you've been unlucky with yours * or you've mistreated it but statements like "everybody calls them and their right in what they say" are just plain stupid. I know loads of Sp6 owners and I don't know any (personally) that are unhappy.

* If you actually exist. This is the only thread you've ever replied to.

Do you not think some people MIGHT be less than pleased with their brand new car if they'd had to deal with the fairly high number of faults that, say, Diane's had to deal with? Or that the speedo issue took so long to be resolved?

It was Diane and I who dealt with the speedo issue and got it resolved in a way that I am confident would not have happened under the old regeime.

I had faults on my T2, I'm not saying I didn't. But they were all small and were all resolved quickly by my dealer - and the "snagging list" was half the length of the one on my previous Tuscan. (And a fraction of that for a brand new Range Rover I had).

If you expect a new TVR to have no faults whatsoever and are upset if it does then a TVR is not for you.

I think the pair of you have patience of Saints (although you seem to be losing yours somewhat with the contant SP6 bashing!) but I think as TVR are seen as a premium brand and aren't sold with a "Warning: this car probably will require some initially tweaking after purchase" disclaimer, then not everyone has the same expectations as yourselves.

I know the pit falls of owning a Tvr, like I said this is my 3rd and if you think I am talking Sh.t I will name the dealers and the model for you. Tvr are meant to been carring out all the PDI s at the factory soon so lets hope they pick the faults up before the cars leave. On a lighter note I was talking to another T2 owner this morning who has had no problems at all. This chap is well respected within the Tvr world and is known personally at the factory. So Mr unrepentant there you go my car has been a nightmare.

Hi TOVIE
If it is the one we were looking at friday in the showroom at the TVR Centre I think you will be well chuffed, I had a good look round it, looks great in Moonracker black.
It is an "S" isn't it? They have some good deals on at the moment. The Sagaris in cascade indigo in the front of the showroom window is even more fantastic in the flesh than it is on the website.
Taking my T350 in wednesday for the extra coolant bottle upgrade.
The guy's there are all brilliant and allways look after us and go out of there way to help. Mark in the showroom is allways on hand to take the p*ss out of me which seems to make his day.
