I was wondering if anyone has fitted a power steering rack in a GT40 replica? I am looking at a Ford Mondeo rack with an electrically driven power steering pump. I think the car has a cortina steering rack, does anyone have dimension of both items?

FWIW....
Our 6R4 used a Vauxhall (Cavalier, I think) rack and a Peugeot 106 pump.

I bought a column from a Corsa that had electric power steering built in, this means it would have been possible to use a std rack. Originally the car was going to use a conventional Jag power steering rack.
Although change of plans mean I will no longer be needing power steering.

A sudden change of direction? Or is this a current project that you are trying to complete before embarking on your supercar?

btw e-mail is playing up. Did you get the chassis e-mail I sent? Are you still making a spaceframe for your supercar?

SOrry cymtriks, been away from my PC to receive normal emails, no I already have a GT40 replica and my other half was complaining about the steering, so looking to fit a power steering rack and an electrically driven pump system. I have been looking at Citroen Saxo pumps but not sure about the steering rack. I think the car has a cortina steering rack so I need something of the same or slightly larger that can be modified. Nothing to do with the supercar stuff!!!! I will drop you an email over the weekend

I've been told that one of the most important things when selecting a replacement rack is to get the same distance between the inner balljoint centres - or as close to it as possible, to avoid "bump steer". - Assuming it didn't have any to start with that is!
