Does anyone have any comments on mechanical reliability?
Thanks

Just about everything will be new. Provided you screw it together properly it should prove very reliable.
If this is a concern then do ensure that you don't over spec. the engine or that will be "Unreliable" in that it may be reluctant to start, will need to be warmed up before you can pull away and will probably not want to tick over.

It's a bit like asking what the build quality is like. It depends how well you screw it together.

They need coseting, but if you look after them and have a full service ever 3000miles you should be OK.

After all most of the components are well proven designs ie. Porsche box & clutch, Chevy engine etc.

I have given mine a hard 1500miles, its been on track (and thrashed to its 7000rpm rev limit), been over 170mph, gone down the strip and wheelspun until 100mph (great fun).

In all this the only thing I had was a faulty holley regulator (drove alright though) and I toasted a CV joint down the strip, (my fault, I fitted granada ones by mistake!)

Things I do do though are,
-warm the car up.
-check fluids before I drive it.
-regularly look over the car to spot problems.
-ran the car in for 500miles (despite it being Dyno run-in before delivery)
-Have fun

As a point I have identified things that will need replacing at the first 3000mile service.
-all my rear bushes (those standing starts has killed them)
-Brake pads
-Oil (obviously)
-Brake fluid (I rolled a car at 145+mph due to contaminated fluid)
-Spark plugs (just in case)

These won't cost more than £300, plus maybe a day at the factory for a check over.

Not bad for a car that will go well over 200mph I think!

I've done 3000 mile and only had a starter motor failure - replaced under guarentee.

Not bad for a 644BHP Supercar

PS my friend in the same time period on his Ferrari has had a blown head gasket, air con failure, holed piston, loss of oil pressure
