Bloody idle hunting again

My run of bad luck continues...After replacing thermostat, stepper, HT leads, plug extenders, dizzy cap and rotor arm my Chim was running better than ever. Today it decides to start hunting again. Firstly dropping to 800RPM and then up to 1200RPM. Seconds later it nearly stalls and then fires back up to 1200RPM.

Any pointers? (Other than sell the damn thing). Seriously I've just replaced all four springs/shocks that a very kind PH member donated and noticed that the steering rack gater is ripped. And I have to replace the valley gasket still. These cars are a full time hobby!

Hi have you set the base idle at all? but out of interest i have just done a customers car on here, he had a simalar thing but it was trying to stall on the transistion from tickover to a couple of revs and it was a duff rotor arm although it was fairly new!

I had teh same problem and it was teh rotor arm which was also pretty new, The contactor metal when stationary looked ok but when spinning I can only imagine was lifting of its plastic body. As when just checking over everything an taking the cover off it just fell off

Dito the same thing has just happened to the above car!! unfortunetly we cant buy the genuine roter from lucus anymore they just dont make them so we are stuck with after market crap, give mark adams a ring i know he has bought the last stock from lucus (wise man or what!!)
