Rockingham Stages Rally
Discussion
I went along to this on Saturday. It was the first time I'd been to Rockingham and I must say that I was surprised that after being open for about 5 years, the place still looked like a building site! It wasn't actually as big as thought it was going to be although the main grandstand was pretty impressive.
Anyway, the rally was excellent. Only the second event of this type I've been to (the other being a single-venue stage rally at Snetterton a few years ago) and I loved it. Cracking selection of cars from 6R4s, ex-works Scoobys, a fabulous ex-works 306 Maxi, a 4 litre V8 M3 (!), a Mini with a Honda engine (that got stuffed comprehensively by a 6R4) and 2 RWD Micras with Lotus twin cams! The 6R4s made a glorious noise as did the ex-MSD Hyundai Accent. Old rally cars don't die, they end up in the hands of enthusistic amateurs being thrapped around British racetracks in winter!

I was there on Saturday too.
It was really good, just a shame that it was cold. I wanted to watch the night stages, but wanted to be warm even more.
The event being enjoyable was helped by it being quiet and having the freedom to look at the service area (the big stack of scooby wheels were tempting...lol)
Yes the selection of cars was great, nice to see some old favourites.
I have now been bitten by the watching rally bug, I have just booked to go to the WRC in Finland next summer.
Great pics btw.

Hi Nicola!
There weren't that many people there, I'm surprised I didn't bump into you at some point. Agreed that it was a very entertaining day and it was also bloody cold, especially once it got dark. I was glad it finished at 6pm 'cos I was beginning to lose the feeling in my feet by then!
Going to the 1000 Lakes (sorry, Rally Finland ) then? Cool.
Glad you liked the pics. See you on the next Northants Run!
