Most fun handling car ever?

I used to really cane my alfa gtv around corners, getting it all twitchy and sliding about chirping rubber - great fun! You really could get away with murder in that car!

What's the best fun car you've had hooning it sideways then?

The Mini (the proper one, not the BMW One Series).

Without a doubt the most fun I have had in any car ever, so much so that after owning 5 I still have one and always will.

Porsche 914.. mid engined, rear wheel drive, perfect balance, you could drift the whole thing sideways whilst in fairly full control.. I miss that car..

You don't see many of those old porsches about now do you? Isn't it just like a boxter in concept and driving fun then?

The Caterham R500 - 110% fun - donuts a plenty and in the real world quicker (0 - 100) than a R1.

you can do anything you like in the car - sideways action all the way, and light enough to get away with it.

My 911 Turbo is still great fun, but you just can't throw it around like you can with the R500 (at least not on the public roads)

Skoda 120 Estelle in the snow last winter. Had to put a block of concrete in the front for balance, it was fantastic fun and as it only cost £50 with an MOT I diddnt mind the 'odd' off the road moment.

N17, that just sounds plain scary!

It seems cars like the 911 and TVR are just to unstable to REALLY get it's arse out and take liberties having a major hoon about in relative safety.

Can you have more fun in a RWD, FWD or 4x4? Mmm...

Much the same I would imagine... a bit underpowered, but no-one knows what they are and they are good and noisy so they have the "stare" factor

I had an E-reg Estelle, bright orange it was!! Had a blue one before that. And I'm only 19... Eventually had to fit an F40 style gate on the gear lever because there was so much 'play' in the gears that it was impossible to tell which gear you were in. Definately the best fun in the snow, not enough power for general thrashing.

forgot about the TVR's ...

Cerberra 6 speed - for plenty of low end grunt - and great for doing power 180's - saves all that 3 point turn stuff.

Cerberra 4.5 - for that great sounding engine and lovely over run

Both enjoyed having their asses hanging out and power sliding round every corner.

I saw a tuned up 914 in a mag once. it had carrera poke to liven it up some!

I expect what you saw was a 914/6 it was a standard production model but with a Flat 6 porsche engine from the 911 in the boot instead of the flat 4..

it came with flared wheelarches too.. I'll try and find a pic

My old Mk2 Big Bumper GTI was absolutely fantastic fun for a FWD car.

Used to regularly hang a rear wheel in the air round bends and would take masses of abuse into turns ...., really miss that car.

The S I had was also marvellous fun as it had a great balance of power versus handling and was a complete hoot on a track once I had upgraded the dampers and springs.

The Griffith is also top entertainment though, especially in the wet ! It;s track behaviour is still in its early stages of development - namely me developing and trying to be as quick as the car is capable of !!

Agreed, it was fun tho after a work day filled with driving fast cars to drive home this heap that flat out at 85mph felt like it was braking the sound barrier and used to get an odd harmonic judder that made me fear for my life best non 4x4 ive driven off road tho, seriousuly with lower tyre pressure it was ace.

OK in the wet it's a bit more hairy, but the Cerberras would only go round corners, if you had a big lift on the way in then, as the back comes round, you floor it. Big black lines, smoking rubber and everyone around thinking w**ker !! too much fun !!
