Stuart Milne, TVRCC RO for NE Scotland has asked to post details of the Isle of Man Manx Classic Cavalcade 2003 to be held 18th - 22nd September. Stuart referred to this in the November issue of Sprint but unfortunately his telephone number was misprinted. Several TVRCC members have expressed an interest and other clubs so far include Aston Martin, Bentley and Porsche. During the weekend a closed mountain road run is anticipated. If you are interested in this event please contact Stuart on 01224 823105.
Hope to see some of you there.
Steve

Yes. Interested all-right.

Remember the Isle of Man tour idea I floated a while back. There was quite a lot of interest....

I checked it out with Ted as to whether a PH tour could be a goer - and Ted reckoned not this year for business reasons...that's OK. So I've been trying to think up ways it could be possible to do a smaller thing.

Then I saw this in TVR Sprint. (I have been meaning to get in touch with Stuart..and now I definitely will).

How about in amongst the other car clubs we have a PH contingent go. I'm sure we'd be welcome...as most of us have cars the individual marque clubs have anyway! (TVR/Porsche). It'd be a hoot to get the PH regulars together for this, though.

We might even get Ted to donate a few PH stickers etc to declare our "allegiance"!

So who's up for it. Why don't we get together and book.

Edited to say: With the numbers of people who expressed an interest on the original thread we could have done an informal tour...but getting a closed road drive and a track day at Jurby would have presented a problem. With the numbers expected at this thing that should not be a problem.

Right. I'll call Stuart tonight and work out what we need to do - then I'll post it up.

Steve - I take it you're going. Are you going as part of the TVRCC (I'm a member too) or PCGB (actually I'm a member of that as well....) or as a "PHer"!

Given there are spaces I'll be going no matter what.

Don,
I will be going as part of the TVRCC. Nice Porsche on your profile, will you be taking that or the TVR. Look forward to seeing you whatever.

Steve.

I took the Chimaera last time I went.

I'd like to take the Porsche this time, I think...

Really want to try it out on the Mountain Road. And if the Jurby Track day thing is on then the Mrs won't allow her Chimaera on track - so it'll *have* to be the Porsche.

If enough PHers are going that we can form a little PH group that'd be great. Otherwise I'll go along as a PCGB/TVRCC club member....

Don.

I'm also PCGB member but I'd rather go to the Isle of Man waving my Pistonheaders flag so to speak.

(Got to get some of the Dancing Donkey brigade on the piss in Douglas as well.)

Me too, frankly.

Anyway...

Just got off the phone with Stuart Milne..who, bless him, has promised me any information he gets as soon as he gets it...which is great.

He's almost certainly going to be acting as the TVRCC contact for the thing. I'm not sure if I should try and become a "PH" contact...or just go through Stuart. I'm very aware that Ted asked me not to "brand" any tour as an official Pistonheads tour...so we'll be "informally" a bunch of "Pistonheads Readers" - or something.

The event is multi-marque (deliberately so) and so all are welcome. I think it would be great to be bringing along some Ultimas, Ferraris, Lotuses and Nobles as well as the Porsches and TVRs we can expect.

I have promised Stuart that I will do a little stirring up of interest here on PH. So come on guys...will you go?

I've got to tell you I think this trip is perfect for us. The reasons

a) its Multi-marque so our varied machinery is "OK"
b) its big...so they'll have the clout to get a closed road run and a Track Day at Jurby

I was thinking that we could join in - but arrange to stay in the same hotel.

The format of the tour is likely to include:

1) A welcome reception (with Island Driving safety briefing)
2) A Dinner Dance (in a marquee, no less) (a bit like BTaP but we'd have to try hard to make it *that* special )
3) Mountain Road closed road thrash
4) Jurby Track Day
5) And informally - getting pissed with your PH mates

All in four days!

Additionally I would assist in organising for PHers:

1) A convoy to the Ferry port (Liverpool, I guess)
2) A hotel recommendations near the Ferry the night before the sailing
3) Getting horribly pissed the night before the sailing in the hotel....

And possibly some other stuff....

The Company who will be doing the actual work are currently at the stage of contacting club organisers and working out interest. So I'd love to be able to tell Stuart how many PHers would come. SO LET ME KNOW!

Hi Don,

Good to see your initiative is finding a home. Would be keen to come along as part of an informal PH readers group or even TVRCC or NOC. Sounds like a great selection of events you've got in mind and it would be rude not to come

Cool. But don't be confused: This is a trip we'll be joining in on - rather than our own bespoke trip - and the itinery will be subject to what the main organisers do (although it was great last time, so that isn't a problem). I will "add on" our PH bits (convoy, hotel recommendation, place to meet the night before the sailing).

If it works like last time booking is done directly with the tour company. When I have details I'll let you all know. I'm happy to act as a sort of PH "co-ordinator" so we all know who amongst us is going and can organise convoys and so on and how to meet up. The "contract" as it were for the tour will be directly with the tour coompany though (not me..or PH..).

Righty. Anymore interest? I'd like to be able to call Stuart back and tell him I've got thirty cars coming.

Yep, me & TVRMark. The TVRCC visit to the IOM was excellent, thanks to Stuart & co.

No - My 309 diesel

Had a good long drive up to the midlands this weekend in the Porsche - I'm always so impressed by how nicely the car drives in all conditions and so comfortable. My relations were most impressed and thought it looked like a new car - and all this for a mere £6500, brilliant!

Hi Don.

As you know from previous postings I am very keen to do an IOM trip. However the "structure" of this one is not particularly what I had in mind.

Personally I wouldn't be able to do the track day bit due to helmet restrictions and as for a formal evening I don't particularly wish to have to buy the full monkey suit outfit.

Have a good trip anyway and thanks for looking into it.

cheers

DAZ

PS1 - (Still up for doing an informal trip of the jeans, teeshirt & pub variety).

PS2 - I note this thread is in the TVR section so perhaps thats' why we haven't heard from the Porker, Ultima, Ferrari Hooning contingent?
