Just done a few laps of Silverstone in the BRM, Ferrari and Brabham to test out the setups supplied didn't really have time to warm the tyres up and my first flying lap. Not sure about the setups.

Some more is needed.

PS June was the last time I drove GPL when I did an all out assault of the Nordschlieffe to get under 8mins, I just missed out by 1.6s and remember shutting my PC down and walking away mumbling something about camber settings.

PPS off to try it again.

right even with a duff Ferrari setup which isn't using 4th & 5th properly, 4th gear doesn't even redline down Hanger straight...odd. Needs fixing.

old 67 Ferrari @ SIlverstone 1m27.0s

New 69 Ferrari @ Silverstone (1st proper timed lap) 1m26.78s

How do the 69 cars behave? Are they as twitchy as the 67's?

I don't even have GPL installed on my new puter and can't remember when I last played it (probably when GTR came out in May and everyone defected)

Because the 69's are winged cars they are a lot more stable and much better turning in. In a similar way that the 65's corrected the front end grip problem the 69's do not suffer from icey front tyres

I think I did my 1m24s at Silverstone driving in more of a controlled style although I did have one lap with the Brabham in which I went round T2 (the fast left hander to Becketts) in full opposite right lock but holding it then under control for the braking zone

You'll like them.

Just downloading this now. Its over a year since I played GPL as i've had my new pc a year and 3 days and its not installed on it!

Looks great though, i better get a bit of practice in.

I remember being a couple of seconds off cracking 8 minutes round the ring when I used to play it, somewhere around 8:03 IIRC. Silverstone was always my fave though

Holy crap these things are good and quite a bit quicker than the 67's
Took the Lotus 49 out (no 69 setup, I loaded my best 67 setup) I'm down into the 1m22s now And I still think that was pretty scrappy (my diff setting is probably way off what the 69's should run).

1m22.29s around Silverstone in the Brabham, anyone else giving these a damn good caning?
Replay of the lap here - bit sideways in places www.mercia.biz/GPL/Replays/69_brab.zip

And a Ferrari lap of Silverstone in 1m22.31s - www.mercia.biz/GPL/Replays/69_fer.zip

It's like having a new game again.
