My housemaete moved out a month ago to do his MBA, and I have been pretty relaxed about finding a replacement. However, it's a big place for a single Flashman, and some extra beer money would be welcome. So the replacement has confirmed that she’s moving in at the end of February! She’s an old friend, absolutely lovely, another lawyer (ugh), and about as easygoing as they come. Completely beautiful too, but that’s incidental in a housemate. There was a significant bit of mutual attraction over the summer (see one of the Flashman-is-a-chump for pulling the wrong girl - much was about Girl B, who is to be new housemate); but she subsequently moved to Brussels for 6 months and has since got a new bloke, so all safe there, I reckon.

Excellent. Been ages since I lived with a girl, and even longer since I lived with a girl I wasn’t going out with. So here’s to living with B, and auditioning her hot friends, who are legion, and so far an entirely untapped (well, almost entirely untapped) resource.

Life is good. Very good indeed - and I needed to share my feeling of wellbeing.

Sadly now have list of jobs to do, such as redecorate her room and fit shelves (old housemate just used the floor as storage), redo 2nd bathroom (living with a girl means separate bathrooms are a must, as far as I'm concerned), get broadband installed, etc etc.

I give it a week before you are on here moaning that you've sh*gged her.

Thats great but I feel, in order to get the complete picture of the situation, we need pictures before the PH collective can approve the move.

You're doing an awful lot of remedial work for a girl you're 'not going to sleep with...'

this is by far and away the most long range set up for a punchline that Ive ever heard. your position on the firm is secure Harry, you need not make work for yourself.

You chaps have no faith in me.

I probably would make a play for her but for the fact that

1) you never bonk your flatmate. Hey presto, live-in girlfriend *shudder*
2) she has a boyfriend. And I have some scruples
3) our moment was in the summer, and I let it pass with a combination of ineptitude, over-hesitancy and knocking-around-with-other-girls caddishness. No second chances after that sort of behaviour, I've found...

On the plus (and PH related) side - an extra several hundred shekels a month means...

All of human evolution and the 'ladder theory' say they an attractive housemate cannot stay unboned. Its gonna happen, you know it, we know it and she knows it. Maybe the time she comes in late having had a row with er BF, she has some wine, you offer your shoulder to cry on... The only way out is if you are gay, anything you wanna tell us?
