Not this year, but christmas before last was working 8am-1pm as a care assistant. Unfortunately little old dears don't just spring out of bed and feed themselves just because its christmas day! Wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and was double pay, but wouldn't want to do it now I have sprog.

My wife is working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, has taken Boxing Day off but is working the Bank Holiday Tuesday as well. She is on-call from 8am Christmas Eve to 8am Boxing Day.

She last worked at Christmas 2 years ago, and was called out at 11pm on Christmas Eve and got home at 5am Christmas Day and wasn't impressed when the only child in our house asked at 7am if it was time to open presents. That only child being me!

She's a community mid-wife so hopefully she won;t have lots of work to do, although doubt many women will be keeping their legs crossed to keep the baby in.

When faced with the prospect of cooking the turkey I sub-contracted it to my mother. So my daughter and I are off there with my wife joining us if possible.

I wish I was working Xmas day...

Could really do with the double time + in my bank account.

As a contractor right now, bank holidays = not paid days.

Which means I'm really not looking forward to Xmas and the new year!
