This is on ntl - on all three accounts - have even been to a screen on ntl where it says KEEP MAIL ON SERVER and a tick box (which I expected to be ticked and wasn't) ...

Anyone any idea ... ?

It could well be your email client that is causing the problem. If you're using Outlook go to the Tools menu and edit your email accounts from there. You should find an option to leave email on the server either permanently or for a set number of days. Thunderbird has the same feature under Tools, Account Settings, Server Settings if you're using that.

Hope this helps.

roadie.

In mail, if you go the 'mail' menu, choose 'preferences', choose the 'accounts' tab, select the relevant account from the list, and click 'advanced'.

There's a setting there that determines how long (or whether) your mail stays on the server after downloading.

Might be worth a look.
