Sorry, I promise to write out 100 times I am a muppet......

Netgear DG834GT, working fine, wired and wired connections AOK and security in place. cfg file backed up.

Now for the muppet question.

Obviously (?) one is expected to leave it powered up all the time. Yes?

So what happens if you power it down? Well it got powered down last night as somebody wanted to use her hair straighteners :sheesh: and this evening when plugged in it booted up connected and bob's your uncle.

I thought it used flash memory and therefore would lose settings when powered off.

Obviously not. Does it have some sort of battery backup or what?

Am I being a muppet leaving it on and does everyone else power off / on as needed?

Yes I have read the manual and knowledge base online.

Told you it was a muppet question.

Not sure how it keeps the settings but it does, so don't worry to much about it. Besides you have backed up the settings so it dosent matter.

I leave my Wireless Netgear DG834G router on all the time. SSID not braodcasted with WEP security and had no problems so far.

Hope that helps.

You can buy a 64mb sd card for peanuts nowadays. The 4meg or so you'd probably need for a router would be pence at manufacturing cost. My theory anyway.

Or they've got a clock battery in.
