Road Angel Question - Xmas Present for Cerbie

Hi guys,

I'm considering buying my Cerb a chrismas present in form of a Road Angel 2.
Looking on the web, however, I find so many different GPB/Radar Decetors/Laser Detectors/ etc...
and I'm not sure how do compare which one is the best though I can kinda gather that
the Road Angel is definitely one of the most popular GPS/Laser Detectors.

Any of you guys use a Road Angel ?

There seems to be more TVR owners with Road Angels than any other type that i know.

Ive had an RA2 for over a year, hot swap it between the Cerb and the Audi. Never had a problem with it. Highly reccomended

I've had my Snooper S4 Neo for nearly 2 years, it went back for repair once, (got it back within a week) great bit of kit, easliy transfered between my DD and the Cerb.

Saved me from the scamera's, and even from the hand held laser devices as well

I use both Road Angel and a Snooper.

Have the RA2 and its been working fine, it fits neatly mid dash suckered on the screen and looks better than almost all other detectors (except the Indago, but that's a whole different price range). My foibles are that is doesn't have clever features such as telling you the road and limit the camera is on and staying silent when you're below that limit.

But, if laser detection is to be banned, you might be better off buying a base TomTom at a similar price and using the free camera database. TomTom is also not an ugly device and as a bonus you'd have SatNav.

Read a lot of independeant reports and UK User reviews which highly Rated the Valentine One. It's a US product but works in the UK as its a pure laser/radar detector, not a GPS system

That was the unit of choice for TVR owners back in 97 - 99 era.
It is however designed for lhd cars and so isnt shaped well for our cars.

Cheers guys for all your replies - as always very useful ! I'm still deciding between features/looks/practicality - pure GPS/Laser detection vs SatNavCombo...etc.

Thought I make my Cerbie a nice welcome-home/Xmas present. She's been away from me for over three months now getting new cams, timing chain, oil sump and steering rack.

Can't wait - will be picking her up next week !!

Could I ask why ? Looking at the products you should pretty much overlap 90odd% in terms of features.

Hello! I've been driving for some 16 odd years and wound up getting my first two tickets ever over the summer within months of each other (and both in the wife's car!). This resulted in the prompt if belated purchase of said product. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Although it cries out "laser laser check speed!" if zapped, I'm guessing that once zapped it's too late. Both my tickets were from vans, and in hindsight I believe that the product would not, actually, have helped. If anyone out there disagrees please fire back, because I'm beginning to wonder if several hundred pounds was a bit much for a dashboard ornament. Having said that, one of their navigational variants probably would be sound investment.
