Brake discs

I need to change the discs soon. Does anybody have any recommendations as to what type is preferred.
My standard discs appeared to warp after 13000 miles

I think, but may be wrong, that there isn't reaally any choice, as only AP do discs that fit the bells. Might be able to get groved instead of drilled, but don't know if there is any benefit. Try speaking to the factory, FP or Vegantune etc, or Alan at Questmead (they are very good for all AP stuff, and mintex pads etc if you are happy to get the work done somewhere or yourself)

Your not wrong silversix. Changed the front discs and pads on my noble a few months back, the brakes are tailor made (330x30) by AP for Noble and are available direct from the factory or dealers, AP will not, AFAIK, supply direct! The pads are AP using Ferodo DS2500 material, which is a great pad for road and track.
Although only available from Noble the price was OK, about £140 for a set of pads and £160 for each disc, you'll also need a new set of bolts for attaching the discs to the alloy bells.

I have brought the Pads direct from AP, at a saving over the factory.
Might be worth giving them a call.

No boys, you need to speak to Plans Motorsport who have done all the work on sourcing disc upgrades for my car. AP do an upgrade disc, grooved (i.e. no cracking) and higher molybdmiumumyumyum content (i.e harder so better breaking) which retain the bell housing of the originals. Apparently Noble now only supply single piece replacement discs.

To be honest it was in a long list of winter work but I think they were 10-15% more expensive than the factory replacements. Give John a ring, he's the one who's done all the work.

Braking from 100 mph I get loads of judder, not through the pedal but it feels from the front wheels. At lower speed it really isnt obvious and the car stops just fine. Another Noble specialist company suggested there may be some cause other than discs and pads. A bit vague but they are offering to investigate and correct. If it is as they suspect it will be a lot cheaper than changing discs and pads.

Nick, might be worth checking you havent got a build up of residue on the discs, also the holes can get blocked up.
have a quick search, it has been covered before several times.

Check the rears as well. My car juddered liek hell, and the fronts were replaced, and it still did it. Turned out that the rears had marks on them where the car had been sat outside the dealers withe the brakes wet. So they weren't exactly warped, but did judder very badly from about 120mph.

Hi All,

I have had my front disc's changed for the grooved ones at Plans. They are about £50 more expensive each than the originals. I have done one trackday since having them fitted and they feel a lot smoother than the originals. Admittedly my old ones were getting a bit worn.

They feel like they have more braking force, unfortunately the track was wet so I have not experienced there full ability yet.

I would say they are worth the change just so you don't have to keep clearing out the holes!

I had similar, you don't feel it through the pedal. It was one rear disk that was bent. Once replaced no problems.

Check the rear axle nuts. That is a source of vibration under hard braking also.

When I had a loose hub nut it didn't judder at all...just had a long pedal.
