I've just done my porker fron alignment but it had unequal (by baout 15-20 degrees) lock to lock.

Other than the turning circle, are there any other more serious side effects?

This can cause some cars so suffer pulling to one side, particularly under braking and the tyre wear could be uneven.

Depends on the steering linkage design.

Most cars probably wouldn't notice unless it was really out.

Bump steer (that's BUMP with a P). Unequal tie-rod lengths mean that the car will steer to one side when the suspension is compressed (at the bottom of a dip or under braking) and will pull the other way on the brow of a hill or under acceleration. Not a huge effect, but definitely not what you want on a high peformance car. Often a garage will adjust the tie-rods unequally to get the steering wheel in the straight ahead position. That's wrong. Get the geometry right, then re-position the steering wheel on the column. Takes time, but if you want to have it right, do it right.
