Can someone enlighten me please? Average service costs?

I just paid £1200 for a major which was a standard service pretty much (i think they also fixed a rattly head shield) not had a minor one done yet.

That's interesting my heat shield is rattling too. See my car section for running costs.

Typically £700 small, £1200 Large (excluding any major work) add £600 for new front disks, pads and sensors.

cyrus - its an easy fix (and a common "issue" most would say its a DIY job, however the bolts often have corroded so all becomes a bit of a pain, so I just let the dealer do the job as it was in for the service.

12k miles or 1 year. Which ever first.

Normal driving will see only a fraction of the amount of money spent on brakes that I do (I blame VMAX days).
