Just tried to dial 0800 and 0500 numbers from my mobile and apparently they are no longer free anymore. Rang customer services and they said they had been sending out inserts in the bills for 3 months, i have never recieved one though. But how can they do this, do i have a right to end my contract with them now, 6 months into my contract? how can they withdraw services and expect you to pay the same? whats the legal standpoint of not paying the bill? would they have to goto small claims county court and at which point could you turn up and say why you would not pay any longer?

this is fishy, i have always had freephone numbers free on o2 ovp and then i was gonna leave and they put me on select 500 (25 quid for 500 xnet minutes) and now freephone has suddenly stopped working bust me legal ramifications here.

Hmmm. Orange will be losing my custom when my contract expires in a couple of months, I think. Free 0800 and voicemail calls were always something that swayed me towards them - afterall, is there much difference between networks these days (I've been with Orange for 6-7 years).

tell them you are going to leave and let them entice you back with the half price cinema tickets, £50 recommendation to join, and £25 credit to your account for recommeding someone.
£50 cashback on the old phone
X hundred free anynetwork any time calls
1/2 price line rental fr the first 6 months of signing up,
with all this lot i have still not had a phone bill having signed up 4 months ago they send me updates but i am still about £20 in credit with them at the moment.

Orange will provide you with any of the tariffs you see on any other network so will be interesting to see what you can get elsewhere but mentioning you are leaving is the best route for them to find you another freebie that will hopefully offset your missing free 0800's

0800 has always been free for me on Orange - I'll have to check this out.

Was always one of the features that I liked about Orange, so I'll be dissapointed if they change it.

Well I've been with Orange now for 9 years. And I received plenty of notices about the changes to 0800/0500 in my last few bills. Sure you've been paying attention? :P

I won't be changing just because of this though. Ok, it is a pain to lose it, but there's still plenty of other benefits that outweigh moving to any of the other networks. I've had brief contracts with O2 (and Cellnet before) and with 3 - and they never came close to the full package Orange offered.

One of the best bits I like about Orange is that the phone is that the phone is part of the contract, and that they can supply you with a new phone if your old one is lost or stolen or damaged next day at no charge. Don't believe any other network offers this? (maybe replacement temporary phones and vouchers to use in stores?).

Are you sure about this? I have been with Orange since day one and at some point you had to pay extra for this part of their service.

Only applies if you take their insurance at a fiver a month or are a premium user (you get the insurance free then), and the phones are often refurbs rather than new handsets.

All robbing barstewards.

I was paying £25-30 a month out of contract on a contract setup. Had not bothered renewing for a year, and when I rang to upgrade I was apparently a "low" value customer. So I could have had a new phone etc, but chose not to, but because I don't spend over £40 a month I am LOW value.

So, I went Pay as you go with my phone which is now over 2 and a half years old (7250i, still does teh job), and am topping up £10 a month.

I just don't get what your paying for with contract except the latest feature packed phone. OK if you want shitty games and pointless broadband and crappy camera, but I don't. Why pay for all that crap?

PAYG is the way forward for me after a good 5-6 years of swapping between Tmobile/onetoone(best in the day) and Orange.

No matter what the whole tarrif system is set up to rip you off. You use your valuable on-peak minutes cross network first, even if you ring your home for 10 mins one evening your using the VALUEABLE time... ffs. Just a big con!

Once had a bill for £200, had my contract been the £40 a month one, not the £35 one at the time, the bill would have been £40, for just the contract, with free time covering the £160 over! Again, they just love you to be on the wrong contract and waste your money. Fed up of subsidising pointless crap, adverts, pointless phones and greedy shareholders!
10/8p a text is a ripoff too. It uses the localising/carrier signal, doesn't even "ring" out. 256 bytes of data costs 8p. Even with 12.2kb/s dialup THROUGH mobile free minutes you could send 40 messages a second!!! 2400 a MINUTE! But no, we pay 8p a time for that...

Mobile phone companies are just like Gordon Brown, charge you a shed load for fook all.

no chance at all of getting out. i bought an O2 phone to replace my Vodafone contract, took it home and no reception at all. Suffolk! So i returned it, they said that it would be changing in the very near future and to hold on. Half price rental for a month. Nothing happened so i took it back again, they said my 14 day return was expired and that i would breach my contract by not contniuing. Now stuck with the sodding useless thing! typing crap as beer in other hand sorry.
