Traffic Warden - Common sense
Discussion
I dropped the kids off early at school today. So early in fact that there were only half a dozen kids there including my own. I had parked on a single yellow line to help mine cross the road (can't find the highway code exception for small children and the infirm to quote) and was intending to shoot off. However, there were no adults, so I hung around until someone was around to supervise.
Horror of horrors, a traffic warden appeared. Well, it might have been a warden or a PCSO but this months copy of 'Uniforms that make you look really important' is late again
Cue me legging it sharply over the road to move the car full of apologies and going 'Sorry mate, there's no-one at the school to look after the kids yet'. He just looks at me and says 'Oh, that's alright' or something similar. Shock, you could have knocked me down with a feather.
So back I go to the school. In another few moments the inner gates open and the kids are safely inside the school playground proper.
A victory for common sense. If the warden is reading, top use of discretion
Had the law been applied to the letter I would have had to leave the kids unattended but this guy had enough nouse to realise that wasn't the right use of his powers.
Just making sure to address the 'Quick to criticise, slow to praise' post ratio
