Hello. My iPod battery suddenly stopped charging. It's a 3rd Gen which is approx 2 years old. I bought a new battery from ipoddoctor and fitted it myself, but I have the same problem. It synchronised OK with my PC, but the battery does not charge. I've tried it on 2 PCs with different cables.
Anyone have any ideas on things to try?
Thanks guys!

Are you connecting directly to a USB on the computers? Often, hubs won't power the USB port.

Have you tried a wall charger?

That's odd though. Mine used to charge through Firewire, but i lost the cable so am using USB from a Nano. Wouldn't have thought that would matter though.

Are you sure the USB cable is fully wired for power?

I bought a power adapter at the weekend and it still does not charge. Pretty annoyed by it now, as although I like the idea of a new ipod, I have an Alpine car connector which means that docking cable will not fit the new one. Arse!

??

The Dock connector has not changed since it was introduced. The "old" dock cables will work with new iPods fine. If you have a cradle or similar you may need a new one or an adaptor though.

I thought the new video ipods have a wider connector?

No. It's exactly the same. Old cables etc work fine.

For anyone interested, it turned out my iPod was indeed broken. After a well worded email to Steve Jobs, the long and short of it is that Apple very kindly replaced it with no charge (despite being out of warranty).
The problem now is that the one they sent me is also faulty!!!!!
