Dash warning lights and electric windows

Hi

3 weeks of ownership behind me and a small list of things to do (thanks to Ian of Middelwich for that) but there are a couple of other things I'd like to know:-

1 Should all the warning lights come on when you first turn the ignition key as a test (mine don't) and if not how do you know the lights are actually working and not just faulty. The reason being that on the dash, there is a small panel with 3 lights in - the rhs side light comes on every now and again when I apply the handbrake and the side lights indicator lamp comes on only when I tap the dash and I'm worried that the other warning lights might be as intermittent.

2 Can the electric windows be adjusted as to when they come to a stop when fully up. My drivers side window stops leaving a slight gap betwen the sealing rubber.

3 One other thing is that it seems to be eating petrol (12mpg) but I've seen other threads on here regarding consumption issues so I'll have a quick browse first.

I hope I've explained myself clearly enough to prompt suggestions.

Window adjuster is a screw, crosshead IIRC it's situated about here

crosshead,slotted or allen screw,you could find either!Thats a good pic Al.

Re item 3. A mate with a Griff recently had the same problem. Changing the air flow meter solved it for him. Also I've read that a faulty temperature sensor has similar affects, though in my mates case there was a strong smell of fuel and rough running at tickover, but ok at speed (other than fuel consumption).

Thanks for the info Big Al & TVRToe, I'm off work from this Wednesday for 2 weeks so will be doing some work on the beast. First on the cards will be removing the radiator for the repair of a small leak methinks.
