This is a rant at all you s who think it's acceptable to pay for a 90p magazine at WhSmith Marylebone with a debit card.
Can you not see the thousand people silently hating you in the queue?
Can you not even see the cashpoint lest than 10 meters away?
Can you not afford ninety pence of real money so we can make our train?
You cash-avoiding self-absorbed stinking pikey !
At the very least have the courtesy of wearing a big , clear sign saying "I'm really sorry I'm one of those s paying by card" so that I don't choose your queue smugly thinking I've got the shortest- only to watch tens of people stream past in the less queue next to me.
Oh how I hate you.
One of these days, without warning, I'm going to flip like the bloke from 'Falling Down' and beat one of you to within an inch of your life.
I hope it hurts.

Aaand breathe

I will be hiding in the cellar till he's calmed down.

You think the debit card is bad? Wait till you find someone in front of you in the queue trying to pay for something like that with a cheque...

Me too, well debit card. Only because the only cashpoint for 35sq miles was broken though, so it's ok.

...or the oaf who wants to argue about whether a 25% OFF sticker meant the orinial price, or the SALE price, of a packet of softmints.

Couldn't have described him better myself.
The other morning a builder said to him 'You're not much of a morning-person are you?"
Those two comments equal his complete desciption.

Thats even worse. Are you telling me it's just possible that some of the aforementioned s may actually have cash on them?

I had a horrendous experience at the cinema the other month:

We were late for the film, I needed a bottle of water, so rushed into the sweetie shop bit, grabbed a bottle, had the change in my hand, and was 2nd in the queue to a couple, buying a bag of pick'n'mix each.

Bloke pays for his sweets with change. Then the girl couldn't find enough change to pay for hers. Bloke emptied his pockets out too, but they were still 50p or so short (her massive bag of pick'n'mix came to about £6). "Tell you what," says the bloke "give me the caskback on my sweets, and I'll put them on my card." So the guy handed back the change for the dude's sweets, and re-weighed the sweets together. Took the debit card. Stuck it in the machine. About a minute later, the card came back as declined. So they ended up writing a cheque for the sweets instead.

By which time, I was second in a queue of about 15 irate people leading to one till. The second till was closed, and the other guy in the sweet shop area was sat on a stool about 5 yards away "on his break, you'll have to wait." I also asked about just leaving the exact change on the counter and running into the film, but was told it needed to be rung through the till.

I swear I was *this* close to a nervous breakdown!

I heard Juan Sebastian Veron did the same, paid for everything with a credit card, apparently he never, ever, carried cash.

Not the point. The cleaner beating off chat is in work time (ish) and the debit pikeys are eating up my time and preventing me from buying laddish borderline porn for my train journey! You simply must sympathise

Sorry, the cash would have gone down on the counter and I would have told them to take me to court if they fancied it
