Guys i am still the owner of my GT2 which is great but not great now as am in a different country to the damn thing!

I really want to shift it in the new year, I realise that this time of year is not a good time to sell and am happy to wait a while but further to my other posts everyone seems to think its approx the right price but it's not getting any enquiries. I either sell it or ship it over to spain but would prefer a lhd for day to day.

Have just been upto Jerez to watch Mr schumacher plodding round for the first time in his new 06 V8 and after 2 months off have now got the trackday bug again so am quite tempted by these GT3RS lhd

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of shipping a German car to the uk and registering it or alternatively registering it straight in spain but as ever in spain everyone you talk to gives you a different answer to what are the costs involved and what taxes you have to pay??

Thanks

Why buy a LHD when you can buy a RHD RS for the same price (you mention bringing it back to the UK)???

Have done Denmark to UK, basically you buy the car without paying sales tax (VAT), then you pay it in the UK, there is admin fees for registration, cartax etc, as you would expect, you can also drive the car on the Danish / german plate for a short time (6 months i think)

I have a UK car in spain at the moment and the police are checking UK cars for tax, insurance and log book etc.

If the car is used, its a slightly different process...think you have to claim the VAT back but don't know how long it takes. Spain can be a pain cos they have changed alot of government processes from swimming pools to council tax... so you get three answers per question.

If you need someone to drive the GT2 down to Spain.....

sorry for the confusion, when i said bringing it back to the uk, i meant to purely register it so can get uk insurance and then take to spain, the problem is that most uk ins co's will only allow 6 months out of 12 in another EU country.

The main obstacle to registering direct in spain is the cost, something stupid like 8% of the value!!!

Thanks for the offer of driving the GT2 down but to be honest me thinks on the back of a lorry is better for keeping the miles down!

Any thoughts on price to sell or any knowledge of a spanish insurance company that will insure a non spanish car?

personal taste as i saw a silver one here in spain yesterday and wasnt keen at all as it looks so less subtle with contrasting black rubber and vents everywhere but thats what makes us human

Just got back and have looked in the local Costa Brava News, there are a few companies specialising in re-registering the car, not sure about the 8%, that sounds like a replacement sales tax.

I have just brought mine back for MOT, TAX insurance etc and will be making a return trip at Easter.

Not sure if you are on the Costa Brava but if not let me know and i send an example company for you to try .

Mike

I'm Portuguese but I live in Spain and I'm now on my 3rd car register here. Basically you'll have to pay 12% of the purchase value (you'll need the invoice) + approx.1000 euros (for paperwork).

Just be carefull because the imported cars business here in Spain used NOT TO PAY any taxes without the final buyer knowing it. If you're bringing the car yourself and you're ready to pay all the taxes then no problem.
Are you a RACC member? If you are they'll do it for you.

Anyway beware: I've just recovered a GT3 I paid in May!!! Police, lawyers, etc... And now I'll have to pay for the register myself.

Regards

Tiago
