What is my 400 engine worth?

Shall be selling the stock TVR engine out of my 400Se in the new year, as i have got all the parts for the 4.6 together, any idea what the ballpark is for these TVR engines these days, i will let the flowed plenum and inlet manifold go with it as it matches the porting job on the head.

About a grand? This one went on ebay a couple of months back:

Probably depends on condition, mileage, evidence of history etc. A prospective purchaser will always pay more if he can hear it running first. If you put it on flea-bay with a disclaimer that it is to be removed in the next couple of weeks and give the option of letting someone see it running, then I recon you will be quids in. If your after a quick sale, I'll give you a tenner for it?

While we're on the subject do you have to take the manifolds and/or the gearbox off before the motor is taken out?

As for removing the manifolds, the general concensus is yes you do however some people have stated otherwise

Easier to get engine and box out in one I think. If you undo the mounting and jack the engine up a few inches clear of the chassis so you can access the manifolds bolts better it makes removing them a lot easier.

Agreed.
It's got to be easier to take the whole lot out, surely.
Same must apply when putting back in (aligning clutch,etc).
