Hi all,

Having trouble with WMV files from PH TV playing through windows media player. All vids play by you can only view the base colours (for a non-techy it is like looking at a film negative). Any idea? Downloading via ASDL with a brand new laptop.

Thanks,

A

How many colours is the display set to? (right hand click on desktop / properties then settings and color quality)

32 bit highest quality. All other vid files fine. Just wmv causing problems.

Sounds like a codec problem, try this.

Go here - www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

And install the Codec Installation Package for Windows Media Player 6.4 first as it says - Previous codec versions have been included to decode any data you may encounter that has been encoded with those older versions. This package contains the following codecs:

I am guessing that since you have a new laptop installation you only have the latest Codecs installed, the videos you might be trying to play may have been made using older codec version which you don't have installed and thus can't decode properly.

Legend - That worked perfectly FWD. Thank. Now catching up on a year of PH vids!
