Warning - painting enamel on your bathroom radiator can knock you out! I've got the window open, bathroom door shut, and its still coming through
Bloody strong stuff, whats in it? I never use the water-based glosses etc, as they're rubbish. This seems much more powerful than solvent-based paint though.

From my mis-spent years making and painting Airfix models, enamel paint happily dissolves in ordinary thinnners/turps/white spirit.
I think xylene and toluene are for more the 'Hammerite' class of paints that need cellulose thinners to shift them.
NB Did you know you can make your own varnish out of white spirit and expanded polystyrene? Full instructions on request

Yeah, I'd sort of assumed that "enamel" referred to something like Smoothrite rather than an industrial-sized pot of Humbrol, partly because Humbrol-type paint doesn't fit the description for smell and partly for reasons of cost and availability. Only PoD knows for sure...
Cellulose won't touch Smoothrite. Even a bloody sandblaster won't touch Smoothrite!
Quick tip: if painting with Hammrite or Soothrite and you need to clean brushes, don't use their expensive thinners/ brush cleaner. Either use washing-up liquid or, if you're going to recoat with the same colour later, simply pop the brush into a jar of water. Deprived of air, the paint won't dry.
