When i change gear i get quite a loud clonk fron the rear of the car. reminds me of a worn half shaft on a land rover. Any common problems?? cold it be the diff mount???

If you`re getting a "clunk" as you go on, or lift off the throttle, it`s likley to be the diff mountings, or one of the rear suspension bushes.
There have been threads that mention loose prop shafts, and half shaft cv joints having loose attachments...... sounds like a good time to get the back end up in the air and have a firkle with a long pry - bar

( also check for any stray cans of coke rolling round in the rear footwells.... )

No, not weary mate! I'd never tire of them looking at my car for free Cautious? No, I don't think so! Who's the dealer? Maybe they think it'll be a simple fix ad they're after your custom in the future ...

I have a similar noise when lifting off from power or changing gear, sounds like its coming from beneath me or slightly further back.

Worrying thing is the gearbox was taken off last service for a particular problem and whilst off, bushes replaced, and the same with the diff, which were apparently split...the car has done less than 1000 miles since and i didnt notice it when i first had it.

I am a little worried something is working loose or a mount / bush has failed with such a short time since they were changed...

How difficult is the job of changing?

Although you're free to use the ramp, I'll not be much good on diff's as I've never had a problem with mine. I think eddie has some experience so you'll need to see when he can come, or if he'd prefer to look at it round his way.

To have my diff mount bracket and all three bushes replaced I paid just over £400 which I think was a bargain!

I have a clonk, but its not always there. It seems to go when the car warms up.

Going for a service soon so I will ask Steve G to take a look for me.
