The Sun said:

THIEVES who pinched a helpless baby penguin from a zoo have been warned it will DIE in days if it isn’t reunited with its pining mother.
Police think the four-month-old chick may have been stolen for a bizarre Christmas present.

Toga is 12ins tall and weighs just 10lbs.

He was taken from the Amazon World Zoo Park in Newchurch, Isle of Wight.

Zoo owner Derek Curtis said Toga’s mother is “extremely distressed”. He said: “She just sits there looking lost. This was her only baby.

“It’s a cuddly looking thing but it’s not going to survive as it’s still eating food from its mother. We are hoping and praying to get the baby back in three or four days or it will die.

“I don’t think the thieves are deliberately going to hurt it but this penguin really needs its mother — quickly”.

I've seen Jackass penguins in the wild (Simonstown/Boulder Beach near Cape Town). They really are curious enough to waddle/swim over and have a nose to see what you're up to.

Very sad and regrettable - culprits should face a minimum of 10 years for the distress to the 3 penguins involved and the zookeepers. Then life if they kill the little blighter

If I'm not redundant, it'll be:

Cheese & Pickle rolls x2
sausage rolls x2
Penguine x2
tin of fruit cocktail

Its a PENGUIN. You would seriously advocate locking someone up for ten years for nicking a Penguin?

You dont get that for murder if you're lucky...

I think in a lot of ways cruelty to animals is as bad if not worse than cruelty to humans - they are by definition totally innocent. What kind of ed up person thinks this would make a good present?

And very smelly. Of course it might be a cunning ploy by Carrera2's cleaner to disguise that lingering "fish fingers" smell in his flat... :-)

True story: friend took their child who has learning difficulties to the zoo. Upon getting home, they discovered, in their child's bag...a live penguin!

Cue frantic call to the zoo, 'we've got one of your penguins', etc. The zoo's response, 'you can't have, now bugger off..'

The parents eventually persuaded the zoo to count their penguins, after which they were round like a shot to collect the thing.

My mate Ian did that with an elephant. Half an hour earlier it had thrown a railway sleeper at him, must have been a cry for help.

Update - someone tipped off GMTV that the penguin is in a plastic bag at Portsmouth docks...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/4548930

Sounds like typical Portsmouth scrotes from the estates to me
