Anyone done it?

I've just fitted CCC cans - what a difference!

But, one of my middle silencers is suffering from old age and has gone a bit saggy, so that one of my cans hangs too low, giving a lop-sided look.

Rather than get it fixed, I was wondering if anyone has had a custom exhaust made up that removed the middle box?

Try contacting jeh20s via his profile as I know he is looking into doing this at the moment.

May I suggest Longlife exhausts in Croydon. The proprietor Chas, Tig welded a lovely custom stainless steel exhaust for my 3000GT I had. The quality was excellent and the cost was a mere 580 quid. The only down side was that he used galvanised clamps on the joint sections as he did not have any stainless clamps left at the time. It's where I will be taking my Tusc if the need should ever arise.

IMO well worth a call for at least a chat.

Assuming the tube that the can clamps to isn't coming away, it could just be one of the hanger rubbers that's getting a bit tired. It's quite easy to adjust the height of the cans to get them level.

I did this to my 01 RR. The original back boxes are 1mm stainless and are not perticularly strong, when the exhaust stub broke for the 3rd or 4th time I removed the boxes and had pipes made up with brackets welded to them. It is fecking loud, ask anybody who was at the griff growl Cost me around £250 from one of those specialist exhaust chaps.

Would I do it again? No it really gets to you after an hour or so.

There are plates with a hook inside the rear wheel arches that can be moved up and down a bit. These support the outside end of the silencer box via a rubber strap. There are also some pieces of stud which bolt to the exhaust at the bend just before the silencer box. These have 2 nuts so that the level of the bracket can be adjusted.

Sorry if this isn't very clear, but I'm still a bit drunk from my work's do last night.
