When all the cards coming rolling in with news about someone else who's got cancer, another divorce/break up and further stories about top chemists being hounded out of their house by animal activists because one of them works for a company who once supplied a lab somewhere with a bit of kit?

Is it just me - but this turns into a sad time - yes, when we're remembering all our friends but......

I have'nt been a christmas person, but this year i'm so not into it its funny, its just getting in the way of what i need to get done.

Add to that the fact that for the second christmas in a row I'm pinning after a certain someone, and for a second year in a row she's left my life a couple of months before Christmas..

and i'm afraid it all adds up to

I soooo did not want to do Christmas again this year, as per last year, due to the split with my ex.

So my mates and I arranged a 'waifs and strays' Christmas, all of us that are heartbroken, on our own, can't face parents etc are coming to mine for food and lots of alcohol. Somehow I managed to end up with a child coming too - that certainly was NOT in the plan, but hey, her Mum is a good mate, and on her own, I can't make her leave the child at home alone really (can I??)

Course, then things change and I am actually looking forward to Christmas now, for other reasons

I think I know the problem - you see, what you've
got there mate is, technically, a Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater.

"Arrives April , nests May-July, migrates October."

www.kmnp.gov.tw/english/bee-eater.htm

Cheer up - it'll be OK in April.

You can call me a heartless, unfeeling **** if it helps.

We had a card sent to 'Chris and Partner' at our address (correct postcode for street etc).

Since there was no Chris or partner here, and the envelope was tucked in, not sealed, I opened it to see if I could work out if it was meant for an alternative house in the street.

"to Chris and Partner

From Eunice and Family
We lost Riley in April"

I don't know if Riley is the husband, the cat, or what, but since these people obviously only communicate once a year, what a way to announce the death (or disappearance down the back of the sofa?)! It just struck me as a very odd card! And no, we never did work out who it was for as the only chris in the street is a 16 year old next door, and in the last ten years there has been no chris here, and there has never been a card from Eunice in all the time we have been here!

Not really in the christmas mood this year.........due to things happening this year, we are now debt and mortgage free, we seem to have alienated half of the family with this.

Apparently you are only likeable if you have debts the size of large boulders round your necks. Thank god we have good friends, its so true that you can't choose your family, right now wouldn't choose any of them.

I love Xmas and everything has fallen into place this year, bought a house, moved in last week and now all boxes are unpacked and the tree is up, my last day at work tommorrow too. So I'm on top of the world.

But I do remember lonely Xmas' of past and feel for those of you who are not having such a great year

Turn a negative into a positive.

Whilst everyone is at home enjoying Chrimbo, get out and utilise those empty roads...

Cheer up folks!

Christmas is sad in my house.....
I miss my parents.
New year is worse.. My father made a big thing about it..
Bless them.........
christmas is overated for some people........

I intend to have a good week differing from my usual routine, but the day itself will be tedious.

Blimey you lot, cheer up!

A couple of months ago my uncle (who I was very close to) suddenly died. We were devestated! My uncle's birthday was Dec 25th, so Christmas will be poignant without him. However, I know he wouldn't want us to be morbid so we've decided to have a great Christmas, with lots of laughs as a tribute to him. As such, we'll be with my aunt and cousin, amongst many others, and will be celebrating Christmas/his birthday like he'd want us to. So when bad things happen, rather than get all depressed, why not celebrate what we have got rather than mourn what we haven't got.

Christmas is so good when you are small enough to believe in magic..
I think that there comes a point when it becomes devoid of magic, full of memories and generally quite a dark place for some of us - maybe the trick is trying to get on and enjoy the bits that still bring little bits of happiness.

In fact I think for those of us who had a really loving and happy childhood, xmas is a focal point for good memories etc.... so when you get older and sad events change your perspective on the world. Unfortunately all the magic of xmas can become a cloud of painful memories...

Sorry - Ive gone all sentimental and miserable......

++hold on++

THATS BETTER!

I am looking forward to Christmas in one respect as I have The Boy Fish here and it is his first Christmas, but I am also sad as last Christmas Day was the last day I saw my dad well, he died two weeks later
