Diverted back to home page when logging in

Morning,
A minor point this, but occasionally when posting a "new reply" the site asks me to log in, when I was already logged in only a few minutes earlier (and I didn't delete any cookies in the meantime). Anyway whatever the reason for that, I'm sure in days of old when this happened, I could put in the password and be taken to the new reply window. Now it seems when I submit the password I'm taken to the home page instead, meaning I have to go to the Forums and find the thread again. It's only an annoyance, but can anything be done?
