Sounds like a process running in the background, probably a virus or spyware, have you tried running anti-virus and spyware removers?

A bit OT but I don't suppose anyone read the Metro this morning? Apparently, some company did swabs of people's desks to determine how clean they were and they found toilets had less germs than around people's work computers....in fact, one person had maggots breeding and living in their keyboard How on earth do you not notice?!

I'm afraid to say, but you should really treat this as the worst possible case scenario. Make sure that it is virus/trojan/spyware-free. Start by getting on CD an anti-virus program (downloading it won't help much, and may give you false hope). Once you've run at least one off a "safe" source like CD, download another couple just to be sure. They don't need to be concurrently installed, but I'd be happier with 4 or 5 different AV programs cleaning my PC if I were in your shoes. Next, tackle the spyware problem you may have. A google for anti-spyware should help - I can't remember most of the anti-spyware things. HiJack This!, AdAware and Spyware Search and Destroy are a few that I can though. Once you've cleaned your system and you're confident that you're OK from that point of view, set about changing all passwords for all users on that machine, as well as any online sites that you log in to. If you do online banking from that PC, phone them _now_ and cancel it for the time being. Also make sure no money has been moved already. I sincerely hope that none of this was necessary, but I have the nasty suspicion that you've got a key-logging program installed that is sending all your login information to someone else... I really, really hope that I'm wrong of course. Please keep us posted.

Ciao
