These things are AWESOME.

I'll never forget the time I happenend to switch on the TV to see a rally X race with one of these things beating the crap out of the competition. It was in a different league to anything else on the track. From that day on I've always thought this would be the ultimate road car. None of this poncy modern stuff. One of the best of the old group B cars.

Agreed!
They were all visciously fast supercars.
Metro 6R4, Delta Integrale and S4,Peugeot 205 turbo16, RS200, Quattro Turbo( i love the sound of these).
Even the likes of the Evos and scoobys, they just just got that kick, or that level of performance.
Truly mad they were.

Did you see the clip of Clarkson in one the other day, the turbo came in with such a whoosh that he span it straight of the track. RS200 was definetly the best looker of the bunch, would of made a lovely road car if they had detuned it slightly.

It certainly was, and it did.....I remember seeing one of the road cars that they made for homologation purposes - wow - what a car! It was parked up in London somewhere - just looked awesome!

Eh Molly - I saw a Mk1 Astra wearing a bodykit and grille to make it look like an Integrale Evo the other day.. canary yellow... it even had the authentic plumes of smoke ouit the back

Definitely a toss up between the RS200 and the Quattro S1 for the best looking group B special.

Quattro Sport was/is an ugly runt of a car. Looks like it's been front and rear-ended.
Just absolutely class.
I also very much like the Lancia 037 (road version seen for sale at around 30k) - beautiful; and I'll never forget seeing a 205 t16 doctor's car when walking through a tiny village in the Jura years ago.

IIRC quite a few were built as road cars. Ford were the last of the makers to build a group B car, and the class was binned before they sold them, and so they were left with quite a few. They were de tuned, had red recaro seats and a leather trimmed XR3 steering wheel.

Twice I believe, as they had to rush them out to meet the homologation deadline, and then had to rebuild them again afterwards to correct the problems.

I was at Ford at the tail end of them refurbishing the 19 (I think) that had kept at Boreham. They were selling them for £90k (in 1989) - Had the pleasure of a brief blast round Boreham in one, though it was only the 250bhp one, impressive all the same.
