General Question On 4x4's And The North West

Im just wondering how many ppl on this forum actually own a 4x4 which they use to off-road. (Be it a Modded 90 or a dinky Mitsi Pinin (<---Do thay actually go off-road???)

I was also wondering if any of those that do live in and around the preston-lancaster-fylde area and know of any good sites to go and play???

I did find one off-road day by accident - I took a wrong turning and ended up in the middle of it.

I looked so out of place in my shiny new Victorian Violet (deep purple..not the pink one) Vitara with a white roof and shiny side steps

Dad was fuming when I got home as the Vitara was filthy and he ended up cleaning it at 10pm.

Cheers. Ive done the car cleaning in the dark. In fact it was a fortnight ago. (Used 2 massive 500w spots to illuminate car) The reason for it... flying down a mud track at 50 mph (Yes it had pot holes) I did have the farmers permission and the track was free of other traffic. The term "Oh Fcuk" was mentioned more than once, and my passenger had turned very pale!!!

Try salisbury plain at 80mph because the people you were meeting had left before you got there and were were you were 30 mins ago

The plain seemed a bit of a more direct route, and I beat them there

Though I'm not sure the lady walking her dogs was too impressed with the amount of dust and mud I was kicking up

The plain is a little kinder to the 4x4 than a single track farm road thats rutted to smeg, and was covered in sloppy cattle crap!

Not been for few years but we used to go to a quarry near Whitworth (near Rochdale i think),not far from Steve Parker Land Rovers.
It wasnt an organised 4x4 day or anything - about five 4x4 's used to go - and there wasnt a day when you didn,t see a few other Landies or motor bikes.
Lots of nasty sheer drops (it was a quarry after all)but loads of good off roading terrain.
Not sure if you can still go there but would be worth having a try.

I've off roaded since 1995 when i got my first hairdressers car.



Won driver of the year in 96&97 and won the overall RTV competition in 97&98.

The suzuki finally broke in 99 so went thru 2 years of modifying it only to make it worse than ever. A 2.9i V6 with auto box is too much power even with foutrak axels. Should have just stuck a 1.6 or 1.8 in there.

Anyway, bought another suzuki last year and spent the 01-02 season fine tuning and testing. Ready for a full on assult for the title 03, first trail in January.

Unfortunately for you, our trails are all based in the North east, but we do go for a playday weekend at the lakes come summer.
