Being an organised kind of Mutt, a couple of weeks ago I went out and did my Christmas shopping. On Mrs K's Xmas list was an iPod. I went into a certain high street mobile phone shop that sounds like a four wheeled vehicle/telephone/large building for putting stuff in and bought one there whilst transacting other business. Or at least I though I did! Took the box home, put in my secret stash place with all the other pressies where it has been unopened until today. Wrapping presents this afternoon, I opened the iPod box to check it, and lo and behold, no iPod Spent half the rest of the afternoon trying to get through to them on the telephone. Fat chance, the phone just rings and rings. More So, now I have got to go back to the shop and try to sort this out. If I can't, I'm £139 out of pocket

So, ladies and gents, place your bets here as to the chances of my quest being successful!

Oooooh! I wouldn't like to be you if you don't get it sorted!

"I bought you an iPod, dear, but they forgot to put it in the box!"

Ouch.

Hope you get it sorted.

Just stand your ground. I had this happen witha wireless router from PC World (although I went back the same day). They got a security guard and started the "how do we know you're not trying it on?" number on me, but I cut them short, told them they were facing legal action to supply the goods or refund my money, comsumer trading complaint, adverse publicity and a defamation action for accusing me in front of other customers of attmpted fraud.

I got my router very quickly.

Ouch

I thought things like this only ever happened to me!

The shop in question does pride itself on customer service (and frankly it's the only phone shop which provides any customer service) - so I wish you luck

I've always found them great, but have never had a problem like that!

I bought a DVD player yesterday. Despite asking the assistant if everything was in the box, got it home to find it was full of empty dvd cases

Went back this morning, the manager was apologetic, offered to pay for my parking and replaced it with a proper one.

Now my nan can watch a film for christmas

Amazing result! Box swapped for one with an iPod in it almost without question. Does lead the cynic in me to wonder if I am not the first one that this has happened to, but hey ho, no complaints.

So it's a very big to the Carphone WArehouse
