PS2 Memory Card Corrupted

I tried to play GT4 before and it will not let me have access to my memory card as it says it is corrupted. It was fine when I played it before I went out today. Any ideas on what's causing it and what I can do to regain access to my files?

did you turn it off before it auto saved. I did that on 59% way through.

you have to start again. i tryed and no way to get the save back

after the second time I have not played on my PS2 since. not int he last 3 months pissed me off that much
