Probably not my place to reply as TEKWIZ is the local organiser. I was there at the meeting on Tuesday and we were given preferential treatment - we had moved the Corvette meeting forward a week and it clashed with the 2CV owners and the Fairmile let us bump them from the "meeting" room.
The food service was excellent but the bar service was rubbish. Time will tell as I guess that the new mangament are not petrolheads like the old ones were.

NOT PETROLHEADs - they should be Hung!
Thin end of the wedge - they seemed to not really give a damn about the TVR lot last nite!
Thinking of asking a mate that owns the Barley Mow in East Horshley if we can use that. (They host the Cobras (he has 2 real race ones!) and the TR's (has loads of these!!)

Things went decidely down hill since the previous management left. We've not had a successful room reservation since August. I had a chat with the manager last night and while he seemed like he'd accomodate us and the venue does have a lot going for it, I'd rather go somewhere with Petrolhead friendly management. The sort of folks who'd sort the car park out for you etc.

You guys have a room, are not on with the single nite and we just gett treated like any sod that just rolled in off the street - I recon we TVR could possibly do better - as much as I like the summer meet - will it happen this year - easy to crash it!
Just an idea here,,there are a lot of car clubs that use the Fairmile,why not contact all the organisers and arrange a meet with the new owners.
The clubs do bring in a reasonable amount of money and also interest to the Pub and if these new owners are reasonable business people then they will realise that and perhaps the *constructive* thoughts would help them at a time when they need it to settle them into their new venture,i would think they could do with some positive feedback.
Also remember they are probably still trying to find their feet,so maybe take it easy on them.
Glad the TVR owners have noticed as well. The Fairmile has taken a nose dive since the BBQ. At the rate they are going it will be boarded up by the summer. We were there Tuesday 20 odd minutes for 2 cokes and the bar wasn't even busy and then the coke had no syrup in it so had to wait again.
We had booked a table of 4 in the restaurant for an xmas meal - food was ok but that's nowhere near the pre-bbq standard, service - none (sat down at 8 finished at 1045)
I couldn't help but notice that we were the only people in the restaurant and they was nobody in the bit to the left of the main doors - that's normally packed and you have to fight your way through to get to the loo.
I think they need telling as well Cliff, its a good venue it will be a shame to loose it.

Certainly needs bringing to their notice,they must be losing ££££££££££ hand over fist.
Agreed - it is a good venue - but non-petrol ead owners I don't see working medium - long term.
If Steve T is reading fancy going t the Barley Mow (TR and Cobras) on the 31st dec for a run out se what it is like on a TR day (should be a good one) - Brmm Brmm - take the other halfs. Gimme a call or mail.

Dave is on here as much as all of us, so he will know what we all think when he reads through this thread. We did talk at the last meet about the pub and how empty it was (take the 2cv and vette club out and I dont think there would have been anyone left)
To summarise what I believe the situation to be is;
Pros;
Great Location with plenty of parking
Room provided for monthly club night which facilitates our needs.
Cons;
Bar waiting time excessive
Food waiting time excessive
Hygene standards questionable
Food quality unpredictable
As to the owners not being petrolheads this has to be answered when we find out who the full time manager is and then question there loyalties.
If the TVR rep wants to contact me, we can submit our joint concerns to the manager and perhaps get an improved service, or if the general consensus is for us to find a new location then I will bring that up at next club night in January.
