... I simply had to do some late night Christmas shopping and spent most of the time either avoiding or bumping into others walking in opposing directions

Is it time some order was thrown into high street precincts with a bit of "lane" discipline!

Not a joking matter - some councils have considered it in the past!

I'm waiting for the 'Push Chair Only' lanes in the high street. Or even better, push chair free zones!

I'm in favour of 3 points and 60 quid for people who cluster in the middle of the pavement for a good chat, whilst people like me who are trying to Make Progress to the bank have to step off into the gutter to circumvent them.

The phrase
'Get out more'
springs to mind,

although this may actually further aggravate.....

There should be a "browsing lane", next to the shops, so that people can mill around etc and "walking lane" next to the road, that you can actually use to get where you need to go.

Wasn't there a thing about Oxford Street introducing something like that or was it a dim and distant April fool?

I hate this. People think it's fine to walk past you then cut in front of you causing you to either stop in your tracks or kick them in the back of the ankles.

I ain't breaking my stride for anyone!
