Music copyright

If I embed a 50sec music wav loop into a Powerpoint taken from a recording artist's CD am I liable for copyright? Anyone any idea how much one is allowed to use within the 'Fair usage' rules?

There are no "Fair usage" rules. You owe the artist money. To find out how much, speak to the Mechanical Copyright Society who collect it.
