Hi

I have a crunch noise when I winde down the drivers side window on my Chim.
It goes up and down ok but I get this crunch noise which is worrying.

Any ideas to what is could be?

It could be the window mechanism itself, it is a long bendy screw that runs up and down in a light metal (mild steel or brass looking) tube which has a slight gap all the way up in it. If the gap has widened slightly which could happen as it has in the past with me the screw can rub against the edges, the next thing is it can pop out completely. Most likely part to start to fail is where the screw starts to bend up (it starts out horizontal then goes through a curve to run at about 60 degrees up).

Take the speaker out and have a good feel round to the tube for any bigger gaps, you might be able to close the gap then if not then it's door card off time.

That's if it's a metal on metal crunch.
