PDA for christmas ?
Discussion
We always work with eXpansys but they're online only as far as I know. However, visit their website for a wide range of PDAs which you can then buy from a shop since I doubt they'll deliver for Christmas now without a big courier fee (though I might be wrong).
You haven't listed what features you want, but personally I think you'd be hard-pressed to beat the Dell Axim X51 range. However, again I think delivery is the problem.
When you're looking for features try and get something with the following:
- Windows Mobile 5.0 (avoid a Windows Mobile 2003 device - it's redundant)
- Decent processor (400MHz+)
- Decent memory (64/64 minimum)
- Decent screen (VGA 640x480 is available on the Dells and some other devices but this isn't a must-have for basic use)
- Quad-band if you go for a PDA phone and travel
- Bluetooth (this is a must)
- WiFi (nice to have if you have a wireless network at home)
- Pocket Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
The i-mate range is quite good (topped by the JASJAR which is very expensive and probably hugely over-specced for your needs) and the HP range is pretty good.
You can always expand the thing in the future too. Some PDAs have GPS built-in, but you can also buy an in-car cradle with a built-in GPS unit and mount the PDA in that when in the car. This gives you a relatively inexpensive sat-nav system and might be a birthday upgrade or something?...
Hope this helps!
