for Jessops.

Last minute xmas present shopping. Spent 30 minutes choosing a 'diddy' camera for Nick to stop him nicking mine.

Ended up with this

Lumix 6MP, 3x Optical Zoom, Image Stabiliser and in a very fetching black.

Cost - £299, but after a bit of haggling that was down to £280, and a 1G memory card, case and tripod thingy was still under £400!

A check on t'Internet shows you can't buy it cheaper (the black is an 'exclusive' Jessops model, but quite a few places have the silver one) on-line, and you don't get the ease of sorting out any issues post the day.

Seems the highstreet is fighting back!

Bestcameras.co.uk have the Silver one with the same card, case etc, with 2 year guarantee thrown in for £350...

Go talk to those nice people at Jessops and ask them for £50 back

Not that I can see. It's £299 for the base camera which is the same as Jessops.

If you want a decent branded SD card (I went for the Sandisk Extreme III 1gb) rather than whatever they decide to throw in, and you don't want it "upgraded", then it comes out more expensive than I paid at Jessops (Camera, Extreme III 1Gb, Leather Case is £413 from them c.f. £380 from Jessops).

Plus, compared to the black, the silver looks pants

I recently bought some stuff from jessops and after a bit of haggling, like you, it was cheaper than buying it of the interweb and easier to sort out if it breaks

It's no use looking to see if you could have got it cheaper elsewhere now. You seem to have got an excellent deal and like nathan says, it's easier to sort if it breaks.
