...and it's a Focus ST170, with the two main options packs - nice stereo, leather Recaros, Xenon h/lights, that sort of thing.

Not quite a TVR but it's solid to drive, is more pointy and responsive that I expected even from the test drive, and will save me a shedload of money in the next year or two compared to the TVR.

So much so that, as soon as I can sell the Chimaera, I can start thinking about a cheap track day car -- I'm thinking Caterhams here. Other suggestions welcome!

From a place calling itself Eurocars in Epsom (www.eurocarsepsom.com) -- it's a car supermarket, and they're selling imported Foci very cheaply -- but a glance at the Ford Focus Owners Club site shows they're not alone.

The OTR price for the ST170 with both Custom and Comfort packs was a fraction over £15k. Looks like the car was made in Germany but bought somewhere in Scandi -- Sweden or Denmark would be my guess, judging by the original dealer bumf in the car.

Above all I want a cheap car -- some sort of Caterfield would suit me nicely but I really don't want to spend more than a handful of k.

This is all predicated on renting a new garage sometime next year, since the land for the one housing my Chimaera will be sold off sometime in the next year to build houses. Since the track day car won't be the daily runaround, I won't care if it's, say, up to 30 minutes' drive away.

So I'm not in buying mode yet. Anyway, I'm still enjoying the ST170...time for another drive, methinks!

...that's better! Petrol cap now works (it was in pieces when I went to fill up with Optimax). Think TVR's have a monopoly??
