Ultimate History of Porsche

My girlfriend has spotted over the last 11 years that I'm a bit fond of Porsche cars. This christmas, she got me the 'Ultimate History Of Porsche' DVD and book from Marks & Spencer. Now of course any proper anorak could tear holes in both the film and the book, but being the sad bastard that I am, I thoroughly enjoyed both 
I assume that much of the footage in the DVD has been available elsewhere for some time re: Porsche fanatics. Near the end, there's some footage of the 993 GT1 Le Mans special lapping the Nurburgring (rather tamely) - anyone got any more info on this car? The 993 GT2 is basically my dream car of all time, but I've never heard that much about the GT1.
And yes, I'll keep my fantasies to myself, I want to be able to drive like Walter Rohrl, and I want a Carrera GT
