Calling all mechanically minded people...
Discussion
Any help pls ladies and gents..
I am about as mechanically minded as a peanut, but my laser blinder arrived today and I need to fit it.
Being an electronics engineer I have no problem with the wiring side of things, however, 2 questions...
1) How easy is it to remove the front bumper of a Vauxhall Vectra?
2) What is the best way to get wires from the engine compartment to the cockpit? There are 2 bungs with wires going in but its about as penetrable as an unpenetrable thing.
Or just point me to a website with the info if there is one.
Cheers

Can't help you with the bumper, but the best way to get wires through bungs or grommets is by using a wire coathanger. Cut the long length out, bend the last inch back over itself to make an oblong loop. Poke this end through the bung, put the ends of the wires in the loop and pull back through. Easy.
I bet you'll find the grommets on a vectra are those modern shape-memory plastic Raychem things. They're filled with a gel to prevent water ingress and are about as impenetrable as... I know how to take those out and take them apart and then put them back together again. But I won't tell you because I've never done it myself and I'd hate for it to go wrong.
If you can't feed the wire through the grommet by taping it to a coathanger you could always consider perforating the grommet and making a fresh hole just for your own wires? Can you tell me a bit about the laser jammer. I currently have a modified number plate that flips up at speed (to let more air to the radiator when testing off road). Not proven yet but it should work.
