Spend my money for me!!
Discussion
Not literally obviously.
I have now sold my Mudplugging Range Rover as I got a good offer on it, and I really couldn't get used to the lack of speed (although the comfort was very easy to get used to!!)
So I am now in the market for another car, again.
I have £1500 to spend, and am a bit stuck for ideas.
I dont want anything too thirsty (25mpg upwards ideally) nor too expensive to insure, and must be reasonably reliable/comfortable for daily commuting.
So far I've thought of a 200sx (S13). Reading peoples profiles they seem to be alright so long as you dont tune them, but there are quite a few conflicting mpg figures.
Anyone have any experiences with a 200SX??
Or can anyone recommend anything else in my budget?
Cheers all,
Ed

A mk3 supra NA would fit the bill just watch out for the headgasket (more of a problem on the turbo)and make sure the rear wheel arches arnt rotten. One of my mates uses one as a daily driver and has had no problems with it so far.
Other suggestions could be a Prelude 2.2 Vtec or maybe an old e30 beemer 318is if you can get one

I looked at buying a Prelude before the GT4, and I didn't really like the dash layout/interior. And seeing as that is what you see most of in a car, it put me off.
E30's are nice motors, but I personally think they look best in Touring form
. And as MrF said, the 318iS may be a bit underpowered, and the 6cyl's start to get thirsty (for their power output)
I registered with the SXOC and asked a few questions, and those guys seem to think that 25mpg is easily achievable (but I think S13's still come with lead driving boots, so that may not happen to often
) and some say 30mpg+ on a long run.
As my username suggests, I really prefer forced induction
I'm going to go for a few test drives in some advertised locally and see what's what.
I dont plan on buying modified, and as I am sure everyone syas when they buy a car (with the possible exception of Turbo-T!!) I dont plan on modifying it too much.

nice car fun car but as i have just bought it wont say much more ,but its going to be a summer car same as the bmw 2.7(when i gat it fixed)
The CRX is by all accounts a great car. Chuckable, cheap, reliable, practical(ish), but there is just something about them that I dont like. And I've never been able to put my finger on it.
I've just had a quote of £1200 for insuring a £1700 Prelude 2.2!!!
Are they prone to being crashed??
Or are they now within the grasps of the Max Fibreglass boys??
It was only the 1st quote, but I'll look into them more. I'm still not to keen on the dash layout, but I'm off work til 3rd Jan, so I've got time to go look at a few ('ludes & S13's that is)
Anymore suggestions gratefully accepted

How about something a bit more old skool?

Might be tricky to find a good 'un though.

The link didn't work for me.
I'm assuming it was a link to Escort RS Turbo's??
A friend of mine had one. Whizz Bang Pop we called it. I dont know where the "Whizz" part came from, but the bang and the pop bit happened quite regularly.
And it loved to head for the kurb/hedge/pedestrians when it was on boost!!!
I think I'd struggle to get a decent one for £1500, and the majority of them have been royally thrashed. Same with the Fiesta RS's and the R5GT Turbo's. Great cars, but I wouldn't want to rely on one to get me to wotk and back everyday.
