Can't quite remember what the actual time he got but anyways, he got a 1:41ish secs laptime for Laguna Seca in an 02 Honda NSX Type R.

Just managed a 1:39.267 on my third attempt - he must be rubbish

What time can you do?

What tyres did you use? Bet he was using the standard sport tyres which are supposed to be equal to slicks

Using Comfort tyres I only had a quick go but the best I could get was 1:44... but then I'm not very good

It can't have helped that Clarkson appeared to be using the digital buttons rather than the analogue sticks to control the car. That's going to have an impact on his time.

I'm surprised that he wasn't using a wheel - although maybe that wouldn't have fitted in with the underlying agenda of his article (there is usually one).

The PS2 buttons are analogue apparently, Sony made a big fuss about this when the PS2 was first released. Can't say I ever really noticed the difference though...

I think the D-Pad is still digital and that is what Clarkson was using to steer the car, the other buttons (X, square, Triangle, Circle and the sholder keys) are pressure sensetive analogue though.

They are but only have about 2-3 notches of pressure opposed to the PS1 controllers whose buttons were on/off only.

By the way did Clarkson use the NSX-R or standard NSX???

My time in the NSX-R 1.37ish using thumbpad.
