HELP Windows Movie Maker.

I have videos saved to my hard disk.
when i open up the videos up in windows movie maker the videos are BIG red 'X'.
Also when playing the videos they would not display the video just a
black screen.

anyone got any ideas?
have i lost the videos?

This sounds very much like compatibility.

I suggest:

Open a Windows window (if you see what I mean)
find the folder that contains the video clip
click on 'view' and make sure you have chosen 'thumbnails'
move your mouse over the clip (don't click)
read what it says (this will tell you what file type it is)
then right click on the thumbnail
read what it says by 'file opens with'

This will give you all the information - if you post that here, we'll know a lot more and may be able to help.

If the videos play using Windows Media Player, you may have to convert them prior to importing them into Windows Movie Maker (if you are planning on editing them). Windows Media Encoder (free download from MS) is ideal for this...
